Round 3 Gala Day Kippax 16-05-2010

Again the weather was perfect for playing footy. The Yass under 8’s had 2 big games to play and the crowd was the largest of the season so far.
Tom Baldwin led the team on to their encounter with the Wildcats in the 1st game and Ronin Packham led the boys against the Queanbeyan Gold for their 2nd game.  Ethan Anderson and Spencer Osbourne were energised and played both games with some excellent runs with the ball and accurate hand balls.  Tyson Muscat impressed the crowd with some great marking including the mark of the match. Max Vrancic and Ben Lachlan played a great supporting game and proved that they are tough to beat.
Zeke Groom proved that he was keen to get into the action and displayed great sportsmanship in the 2nd game, Noah Groom was unlucky not to kick a magic goal after proving that he could beat some of the bigger opposition.  Patrick McPhillips was at his consistent best and a pleasure to watch with his tireless running for the ball.
The whole team deserve awards this week, but the most outstanding players this week were, Zeke Groom for Sportsmanship, Tyson Muscat for the Mark of the match, Ethan Anderson for magic marks and Ben Lachlan for all round top efforts.

Round 2 v Ainslie White 08-05-2010 (Aranda)

The weather was perfect for playing football and the under 8s made the most of it with a fantastic 2nd game for the season.  Ethan Anderson was captain for this match up with the Ainslie Whites and he set the standard with some inspirational hand passes and big kicks. Tyson Muscat was playing it cool with several goals and some great runs with the ball. Caylan Laundess and Spencer Osburne both played enthusiastic football and ran hard till the end; Ben Lachlan was wearing his speedy shoes and proved this many times.  The small but tough team of Tristan Laundess, Ronin Packham and Noah Groom showed that they could mix it with the bigger boys with consistent and courageous ball chasing and intercepts. Patrick Mc Phillips was at his amazing best and continued to send the ball up all game; Tom Baldwin made some dazzling plays with his consistent high standard of play. Zeke Groom was ever reliable with his ability to read the ball, and Alex Thorning took several great marks and accurate kicks at goal. A great 2nd game for the season, thanks for Tracey, Brock and Justine’s help. Looking forward to next week’s gala games on Sunday.
