Roos finish 4th in 2010ANU rolled the Roos in the elimination final to leave the Roos with a fourth place finish for 2010. The fast start by ANU with the wind netted them a 33 to 7 lead at quarter time. It was time to fire up and the Roos came out in the second a different team. Using hte wind and more commitment the Roos turned the scoring around to give the Roos a one point lead at half time (6-5-41 to 6-4-40). The second half however went the way of ANU as the Roos couldn't maintain possession and some perplexing umpiring lapses saw the advantage go to ANU. The final score was ANU 15-11-101 to Yass 8-10-58. It was a disappointed Yass crowd who left Football Park. The team were keen to go further but fourth place wasn't too bad and it was great to get the BurnAss Cup back from Goulburn this year! Come along on 1 October to Presentation Night and celebrate 2010 with the Roos. Roos Finals BoundThe home and away is over and the Roos are off to the minor semi-final. The Roos will face ANU in a do-or-die battle to get to the Grand Final. Having despatched Goulburn for a second time this year the boys would be keen to meet them again in the big one but there are a couple of hurdles still to get over before then. The Roos have not defeated ANU for couple of years now so it will take a full-on cencerted effort next weekend to get the team to the next step; a preliminary final against either Belconnen or Goulburn. The game against ANU will be at Football Park in Phillip next Sunday 29 Aug at 12 noon. Get over there and cheer on the team as they bid for another preniership in 2010! Go Roos. Round 5 Wrap - The season so far...Well the season is well underway and the Roos have a three/two win/loss record. As you can see the Fox Terrier has been slack on the footy front and there are no match reports so far. I have attended some of the games but usually end up with a job so I don't get to keep notes for a proper report. I also haven't made it to the pub after games to get the awards and this year there are so many I don't want to miss anyone. All the excuses aside my impressions so far:
The team has started to look good with some good individual performances and the team play starting to happen. The season gets interesting from here with some challenges ahead. Round 6 against ANU is a must win game. It already seems like the top four is decided with Magpies, Goulburn, and Harman staking good claims and ANU performing well in fourth. The Roos must establish their superiority over ANU to push for a spot in the four. With Harman and Eastlake after that (before the bye) the Roos will be aiming for three wins. On form, the Harman game at Harman will be the hardest and the Roos will be looking to name their best side possible for that one. The signs are positive but the real test will be the matches against the top four teams. Go the Roos! We have had two 100 gamers so far this year and I believe there are some more to soon celebrate this milestone. Congratulations to Adrian Paull and Daniel Smith. New Coach for 2010Jason Anderson has taken up the mantle of coach of the Yass Roos for 2010. The position became vacant when Ben Serafin, last year's Captain/Coach, accepted employment in the Hunter Valley. With the help of Assistants Paul Smith (game day coach), Craig Smith, Mick Hadley and Cian Ebert, 'Ando' is aiming for another premiership as well as stabilising the club for the future so younger players coming through have somewhere to go. Good luck for 2010. The first training run on Friday the 15th saw good numbers compared to last year with a couple of new faces already. I will report more on team makeup as the training gets more serious. It is always exciting when pre-season begins. Footy is not far away! The News Archive: 2009 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 |
