Presentation Night Friday 9 Sep 2011

Yass Roos are most appreciative of the support of their sponsors and supporters during 2011: A big thank you to you all! The Roos will now regroup for 2012 and round out this season with their Presentation Night at the Aussie Hotel on Friday 9 Sep 2011. Festivities get under way at around 7:30pm with the Best & Fairest vote count and other club awards. All supporters, families and friends are invited to join the Roos as they celebrate the highs and recognise the achievers of season 2011.

Ladies/Sponsors Day 13 August 2011

Last home game against Goulburn will be Ladies and Sponsors Day.

Casserole Night 6 August 2011

The Murrumbidgee players and supporters will be joining us again this year for a social get together over a meal at Joe O'Connor Park after the round 16 match.

Trivia Night 21 May 2011 7pm Yass Bowling Club

Yes we have resurrected the Trivia Night after a couple of years off. Bring your own snacks and nibbles and form a team of 6-8 people for an entertaining light hearted competition of the brain. What about a Theme Team complete with uniform? Any other sports teams out there are more than welcome to try to take the title of Roos Trivia Champions.

Everyone is welcome (bring the family) and it only costs $10 per person. The Fox Terrier and Princess Kitty haven’t run a Trivia Night for a while so we are keen for big crowd to add to the fun. As has become a bit of a trademark there may even be the odd physical challenge as well just to keep everyone on their toes (think Minute to Win it style…). I hope you can make it.

There will be some meat tray raffles as well I believe. This night has it all! I can promise some brain teasing frivolity so see you there.

Annual Player Lottery 26 March 2011 7pm

The Annual Player Lottery will be held at the Aussie Hotel in the function room. It works like this:

  • A ticket costs $250 (limit of 2 per individual or syndicate)
  • Every ticket gets a player (we only sell enough tickets for the players on offer)
  • 50% of money raised goes to the club and 50% goes to the prize pool.
  • If your player is voted Player's Player you are eligible for the weekly prize.

For example if 25 players are offered (@ $250) the money raised is $6250. The club gets $3125 and the prize pool gets $3125. With 18 rounds this year the weekly prize is $174.

On the night ticket holders will be drawn to then select a random number from the hat and the player corresponding to that number becomes their player for 2011. There is also the "unsold player" ticket which covers any players who join during the season.

It is always an exciting night and a great way to kick off the season socially as well. Get along and encourage your friends or businesses to get on board and join the Roos in 2011. You don't have to be there to get a ticket. Just contact a committee member and reserve your ticket. An impartial selecter will make the draw on your behalf.

I'll see you there.

Training 2011

Training is now Monday and Wednesday nights at Victoria Park.

Training for 2011 starts 1 Feb 2011 6:30pm at Joe O'Connor Park and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays during daylight savings.

Laneway BBQ

The Roos will be running the Aussie Hotel laneway BBQ on the 22 January from around 9pm to 1am. This is an early fundraiser for the club providing a food service for the Touch Footy Knockout revellers who will be out and about on Saturday evening.

Drop in and say g'day or if you've got a spare hour or two offer to give us hand. See you there.
